Bekannt geworden ist er dadurch, dass er gegen die bayerische und franz\u00f6sische Besetzung in seiner Heimat Tirol gek\u00e4mpft hat. Im Jahr 1809 hat er als Anf\u00fchrer die Tiroler siegreich gegen die Truppen von Napoleon gef\u00fchrt.
